A renovation in grandmotherly fashion, or not just quite
A lot of people are very attached to their family home. It can therefore be a big step to carry out big renovations and modernise the property. The builder of our current project of the month logically first had a design made by architect Thierry De Vos before he ventured to renovate the parental house of his mother-in-law. The result? The terraced house in Zomergem was completely opened up and is now a bright and harmonious unit.
The renovation
The house in Zomergem was originally anything but bright. The spaces were small and dark. During the renovation, these spaces were opened up and joined together. Thanks to a new annex, more space was also created. The whole thing was given a timeless touch, with steel doors and a sleek interior. These steel accents were perfectly complemented by the wooden floor, which ensures that the house still has a warm feel.
The parquet flooring gives the house an authentic accent and reflects the soul and character of the property as it were. The wood creates a cosy atmosphere and the herringbone pattern in the living room immediately catches the eye. A renovation project is only completely finished when every last detail is correct and everything is optimally protected. An important step in this project was therefore the protection of this special parquet flooring and the wood everywhere in the house.
The protection with Rubio Monocoat
The oak wood everywhere in the residence was treated with our
Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C. To
maintain the authentic look of the wood, the colour Smoke was chosen. The
natural result that followed fits completely in the overall picture. Moreover, the
Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C was deliberately applied with
both components and provides the
ideal wood protection.
The project has truly turned into a gem and is definitely one for the books. That’s also where it ended up, since the renovation was picked up by the home, garden and interior magazine
Home Sweet Home.
The beautiful images were made by Nick Cannaerts and also appeared along the article in the magazine.
