The perfect daydreaming spot in Finnish nature

What a view! Who doesn't dream of waking up in the middle of nature? This modern log home, known as Villa Kivi, is located among trees and along the water, on a tiny island in Finland. The beautiful setting and the design of the wooden house are thé match made in heaven.

Everything starts with a good idea
This unique home was designed by the Finnish designer Vertti Kivi, the head of dSign Vertti Kivi & Co. He immediately had a goal in mind when designing this house. He wanted to bring the interior of the house together with the spectacular surroundings, and he certainly succeeded in doing so!

The starting point was a clear glass cube, but he refined his original idea. Eventually they ended up creating a log home with glass walls floor-to-ceiling. In this way, the basic idea of creating a sense of continuity between inside and outside was implemented.

Furthermore, the floor plan of the various rooms was carefully considered. The kitchen forms the heart of the villa. The open space allows you to look out from the kitchen into the dining and living room. And, if that isn’t enough, you can also enjoy the breathtaking view of the lake throughout the year.

In order to give the residents of the house their privacy, the bedrooms are located in the outermost corners of the villa. Separated from each other, because they too have one wall completely made of glass. For the finishing of the house extra attention was paid to the details. You will not find a single molding in the entire building. The doors, also floor-to-ceiling, have a hidden frame creating an open feeling in the house.

Dark and light shades, the perfect combo
Dark and light colours alternate throughout the house. The snow-white floor creates a great contrast with the dark walls. Inside, they chose to finish the walls with Rubio Monocoat Precolor Easy, colour Intense Black in combination with Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C, colour Black. For the ceiling and floor, in contrast to the walls, a lighter colour was chosen as finish.

The ceiling was finished with Rubio Monocoat Precolor Easy, colour Nordic White in combination with Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C, colour Super White. The beautiful wooden floor was then finished with Rubio Monocoat Precolor Easy, colour Mint White in combination with Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C, Cotton White.

The striking dark façade was also treated with Rubio Monocoat, namely with Rubio Monocoat Sealer 707, colour Matt.

And, as icing on the cake, there is also a nice sauna to relax in. The sauna was also finished with Rubio Monocoat Precolor Easy, colour Intense Black in combination with Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C, colour Black.

Our thoughts are already drifting away when looking at the beautiful pictures of this unique project.
